The Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel Accra views sustainability as a means of ensuring long‐term profitability for the hotel so as to benefit its owners, employees and the community. In line with Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts Global Sustainability policy the Hotel has successfully maintained its Green Globe Certification for five consecutive years, and aims to continually improve in each subsequent audit.

Environmental initiatives include waste management whereby our food waste is recycled into compost, our paper and carton waste is recycled into paper crates, and our cooking oil waste is recycled into soap by approved contractors. Additionally, our plastic and batteries waste are sold to recycling companies. Energy conservation targets energy consumption in the hotel. About 99% of the lights used in the hotel are LED lights and employees are given regular trainings on how to conserve energy use. Our Management Energy Committee reviews the progress of these initiatives regularly. Water Conservation aims at reducing water consumption in the hotel. Our irrigation systems are automated and adjusted according to season, and solely use water from a borehole. Whilst showing good governance of our water usage, our plush landscape won Accra’s “Best Garden Award” in 2015. Additionally, all our faucets and showers are equipped with flow restrictors to regulate water flow.

Corporate social responsibility is also a focus as we want to ensure we support and contribute to the community, country, and region in which we operate. Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel Accra is proud to support the Princess Marie Louis children’s hospital, Chance for Children and Kinder Paradise through donations and seasonal events in the hotel. We only purchase from sustainable suppliers e.g. fair trade coffee and locally made produce. As part of the hotel’s architecture, over 1500 sculptures, paintings and works of original Ghanaian art have been displayed to showcase our rich African heritage in a dynamic and immersive cultural experience for our guests.
