Mövenpick Ibn Battuta Gate Hotel Dubai is a Green Globe certified hotel

For many years now, we have been implementing solid sustainability practices in our company. We are very proud of the fact that this has also resulted in Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts becoming the most Green Globe certified hotel company in the world.

As a Green Globe certified hotel, Mövenpick Ibn Battuta Gate Hotel Dubai, is internationally recognised as a property that constantly introduces initiatives with the aim to reduce and optimise its consumption of resources. This includes, but is not limited to, employing energy efficient lighting, reducing water consumption and effectively managing waste and use of chemicals.

Our commitment to environmental awareness is part of Shine, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts’ Global Sustainability Programme. Shine aims to give back and contribute towards the prosperity of each destination where we operate. The sustainability practices we pursue revolve around three key pillars – Environment, Employer and Social Sustainability – with Education forming the common thread amongst the three.

Recycling waste

A number of waste management activities including the recycling of paper, cartons and cans have been implemented by Mövenpick Hotel Ibn Battuta Gate Dubai. Since implementing a paper and carton recycling system in 2011, the hotel has collected an average of 1,860 kilogrammes per month, comprised of 92% carton and 2% paper. This is roughly equivalent to recycling 380 trees of around 20 years old every year. Furthermore, the hotel participates in the annual can collection campaign by the “Emirates Environmental Group”, contributing 43 kilogrammes of cans in 2012.
