Mövenpick Hotel Apartments Al Mamzar is a Green Globe certified hotel.
For a number of years now, we have been implementing solid sustainability practices in our company. We are very proud of the fact that this has also resulted in Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts becoming the most Green Globe certified hotel company in the world.
As a Green Globe certified hotel, Mövenpick Hotel Apartments Al Mamzar is internationally recognised as a property that constantly introduces initiatives with the aim to reduce and optimise its consumption of resources. This includes, but is not limited to, employing energy efficient lighting, reducing water consumption and effectively managing waste and use of chemicals.
Our commitment to environmental awareness is part of Shine, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts’ Global Sustainability Programme. Shine aims to give back and contribute towards the prosperity of each destination where we operate. The sustainability practices we pursue revolve around three key pillars – Environment, Employer and Social Sustainability – with Education forming the common thread amongst the three.
Reducing Water and Electricity Consumption
Mövenpick Hotel Apartments Al Mamzar was awarded its Green Globe Certification within a year after it’s opening. At an early stage of the hotel’s operation, there has been a conscious effort to observe better environmental practises, specifically on water and energy conservation by installing water saving devices, LED bulbs, motion sensors and timers in the lighting system. The initiatives helped the hotel to reduce its annual electricity consumption by 6% and water consumption by 5% in 2013. Complementing all these initiatives are internal trainings to raise environmental awareness and stress the importance of shared responsibility to achieve our sustainability goals.
