Tired and dated hotel close to Haram

Unfortunately, this hotel is now tired and outdated. Very close to haram, which is the best thing. Poorly managed, unhelpful staff. Rooms and bathrooms need upgrading. Need to be able to handle the large capacity . Very disappointed in what could be a great hotel that is so conveniently located.

Excellent hotel!!!

During my recent stay at the Anwar Al Madinah Mövenpick Hotel, I experienced a delightful blend of comfort, convenience, and exceptional service. From the moment I stepped into the lobby to the minute I departed, the hotel exuded warmth and hospitality, making my visit to Medina truly memorable. First and foremost, the breakfast at Anwar Al Madinah Mövenpick Hotel was nothing short of excellent. The extensive spread featured a wide array of delicious options, catering to various dietary preferences and ensuring a satisfying start to the day for every guest. Spent the first 3 days of Ramadan there so Breakfast is substituted with Suhoor which starts around 1am till Adhan Time, lovely selection, probably the best breakfast i have ever had at any hotels! Big Buffet, although it can get quite busy Location-wise, the hotel couldn't be better situated. Its proximity to the sacred sites of Medina made it incredibly convenient for pilgrims like myself to access the Prophet's Mosque with ease. Additionally, being situated in the heart of the city meant that various amenities, shops, and restaurants were within walking distance, enhancing the overall convenience of my stay. The Lifts are always available despite being situated on the 14th Floor and once you are out Masjid Nabawi is only about 1-2mins walk away. the Hotel itself is situated in within a mall, can get a bit confusing as to what entrance and exit to use either Haram Tower or Madinah Tower first day got lost and confused. Bin Dawood is also located in the mall itself so easily convenient. One aspect that truly stood out during my time at the hotel was the reliability of the lifts. Despite the hotel's bustling atmosphere, I never once experienced any delays or overcrowding when using the lifts. This efficiency contributed to the seamless flow of my stay, allowing me to navigate the hotel effortlessly. The front desk staff at Anwar Al Madinah Mövenpick Hotel deserve special commendation for their friendliness and professionalism. From check-in to check-out, they were consistently attentive, accommodating, and eager to assist with any queries or requests I had, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free experience throughout my stay. Last but not least, I must mention the exemplary room service provided by the hotel. Whether it was requesting extra amenities or ordering a meal to enjoy in the comfort of my room, the service was prompt, courteous, and of the highest quality. In summary, my experience at the Anwar Al Madinah Mövenpick Hotel was nothing short of exceptional. With its excellent breakfast, prime location, efficient lifts, friendly front desk staff, and top-notch room service, it exceeded my expectations in every aspect. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a comfortable and memorable stay in Medina. Only issue i had was the Air Condition unit was a bit hard to operate due to lack of instructions took a while to figure it out and some of the rooms were a bit outdated could do with an upgrade but nothing that will mark it down

AVOID Over charged and still waiting for refund

problems started at check-in. I had booked the hotel through Accor using their best price guarantee and prices were all confirmed. I even tried to pay upfront to avoid any issues at arrival and to ensure my room was confirmed, but I was told there is no option to pay before arrival. At check-in I was charged £500 more than what I should have paid. Even though I had printed my email correspondence with Shahin from reservations and had my booking confirmations that clearly showed the amount I should be paying, I was told by Usama (duty manager) that there was nothing he could do and I would need to pay the full price for the rooms and he would "try" to resolve the issue with the reservations team. As it was 3am and I had travelled with my children I paid the higher amount trusting that the payment issue would get resolved. I then went to reception (spoke to Zaki) the next day to see if the payment issue has been resolved, he confirmed that I will receive a refund in cash on the day of check out. On the day of check out I went to reception at 8am (spoke to Zaki and Usama) to check out and get my refund only to be told they don't have any cash to give me and to come back later to see if anyone has paid them in cash so they can issue my refund. This was not possible as I was travelling to Makkah to perform Umrah and my taxi was booked for 9am. They then said they can do a bank transfer to me, so I completed a payment form with my details and was told I would receive the refund within 7 days ... we are now on day 10 and still no refund. I have confirmed Accor who say they can't issue a refund and it has to be done by the hotel so have forwarded my query to them. I myself have emailed Shahin in reservations with proof what I should have paid and I am yet to receive a response. The lack of customer service from reception and reservation staff is awful, as a cancer patient this trip meant a lot to me and my family and I feel it has been ruined. The hotel is very dated. Breakfast was a buffet and had plenty of variety for us, restaurant was clean and staff were attentive. The only positives for this hotel is the location and the cleaning staff are fantastic. They went out their way every day to ensure our rooms were clean and stocked with water.

1 Star at best. There are other better and cheaper hotels in the vicinity.

Extremely disappointed and let down by the state of this hotel. Firstly we were not given the rooms that we booked. We booked a double room but were given a quad room that was extremely cramped. The room itself was cold and in poor condition. The walls were dirty and the furniture & equipment was old and falling into disrepair. The bathroom was the worst. Their was mold growing in the shower, the shower door was broken, and the general cleanliness was poor. This is not a 5 start establishment and based on what we paid, an absolute rip-off.

Disappointing - terrible hotel

Upon checking in staff at the desk were not helpful and given us most stinky rooms. We complaint and sent a cleaner to apply dettol when it was a drainage issue. After constant complaint we managed to get different rooms. Breakfast for 5 star was really disappointing, very basic, and some staff are so lazy to get us karak chai and find excuses that it will take long (even though we come down at 9am and breakfast closes around 10.30-11.00! Location was great, very close to masjid nabwi and few shopping complex. Cleaning staff were the only ones that go out of their way, help you, and keep rooms cleaned these were South Asian staff, Arabs behaved as they owned the place and were not helpful. I don't think I'd come back to this hotel, and I don't class this as 5 star more like 2 star. I've stayed at Movenpick in Dubai and standards are hugely different.
