Great location and a beautiful hotel but overworked staff?

Obviously, the main draw of the hotel is its location. Situated right outside (I mean 30m) the entrance to the Petra visitor centre, that is arguably enough by itself to want to stay here - if you want the best time at Petra (especially in the hotter months) you MUST come at 6/6:30am to Petra. It is almost empty and so much more magical when not packed with DSLR-wielding tourists! The heat is of course much lower in the early morning as well, so hiking around Petra becomes much more fun. The ability to save time in the mornings and when coming back tired after hiking around is invaluable, so would recommend based on this alone. The hotel is very well decorated, and has a beautiful lobby. Breakfast was a large and tasty buffet, and the staff here were very friendly. They even have a chocolate hour which you should go to if you aren't in Petra then! However, elsewhere we thought there were a lot of grumpy/rude/unhappy staff (especially in the smaller cafe room we got lunch in) which was a shame as otherwise it was a nice hotel. At the end of the day, you won't be spending that much time (except to rest perhaps in the afternoon) actually inside the hotel so I wouldn't worry too much about any minor negatives like this and other reviews. The location of the hotel definitely makes up for it.

Amazing hotel- great staff

We stayed here for two nights whilst visiting Petra. We arrived early at around 11am and our rooms were not reedy but they allowed us to store bags and change in the toilets ready to explore Petra which is a two minute walk away- unbelievable location. Our room when we did check in was spacious and clean, we had a pool view (i believe most rooms do). The staff could not do enough for us- one evening I had a head ache (too much sun) and they went to the nearest town to collect medicine for me- really above and beyond service. The pool area is quite small and was very busy when I was there. The rooftop restaurant was amazing- bbq lovely and a really special view. The ice cream shop is also a must visit!! We didn’t use the hotel taxi service as we hired a local driver called Ali who I can’t recommend enough. His number is +962799267771 incase it helps anyone else.

A place to come back

Wonderful hotel with great service. Hotel's design, cleanliness and facilities are amazing - one couldn't wish for more. Service is personalized, prompt and discreet. Special thanks to Belal from reception. He made us feel genuinely welcomed. He was helpful, competent and tactful at the same time. We left with lots of positive impressions and hope to come back one day.

Authentic hotel right outside the entrance to Petra

We stayed one night on our tour of Jordan. We did enjoy our stay here despite some small disappointments. We settled into our third room kindly escorted by the front desk manager. The first two rooms had assorted smells of smokers and whiffs of sewer. The third room was fine although a bit 'basic' and warm. We slept with windows open to mitigate the heat build up from the day. Although a/c air was blowing into the room, it was warmish. We had dinner in the lobby area just outside the bar. We selected mezze and drinks which were enjoyable. The server supervisor seemed to have an attitude problem when we gave him some feedback on the food and service. Breakfast buffet was great with good selection and service. Most of the staff were on the ball and attentive.

Movenpick Resort Petra

The talk is few, but the meanings are many. I am an American citizen and I have a family. We decided to come for a visit to the magical city of Petra. Our first family visit, but what I saw of the splendor of the place and the beauty of the area surprised us all. Also from a welcome and a smile that means a lot to us. We enjoyed the trip and the most beautiful service provided by Mr. Mohammed Jamil. While eating ice cream and the cafe. His constructive welcome and talking to us about the area. He advised us to stay at Mövenpick Petra, but our stay was at another hotel. The best staff and gentlemen and dealing.... We have a close visit to this hotel and the special service...
