We chose the property because the infinity pool looks over the Dead Sea and the beach looked nice. First of all, the infinity pool is located in the spa and requires a 25 JD entrance fee to use the pool… considering it’s the only pool with a view this is quite sad, and being quite expensive already it’s a shame they’re charging for this. We tried to overlook this and stay on the beach instead but it is a building site. There’s huge diggers right next to where you swim, and building sand materials etc in the sea… not pleasant at all. I was surprised that none of the restaurants have a clear view of the sea too (as that’s kind of the selling point at having a Dead Sea resort!) and where you could potentially have a nice view they don’t add tables / chairs. The restaurants are very poorly rated so we didn’t want to waste our money on substandard and expensive food, so we bought some takeaway to eat in our room. Upon returning we were refused entry into the hotel with our food - apparently a hotel policy. I tried reasoning we weren’t eating it in common areas but in a hotel room (never been to a hotel that doesn’t allow you to purchase food outside the premises!!) again didn’t sit well with me seeing as though you’re paying quite a lot for the room and they’re so unforgiving and uncompromising. After making a big enough deal about it they allowed me to bring the food (after it was stone cold!!) and made me sign a waiver. what I don’t understand is apparently not bringing the food into the hotel is for our “health and safety” yet they didn’t seem to care about that when a giant digger was throwing rocks everywhere on the beach? all in all, definitely would not recommend. The hotel is pretty but very dated, they seem to want to make money off of you at every opportunity (the infinity pool, forcing guests to eat and order food at the resort only) and the 0 effort made at the beach seems a real shame considering that it’s the selling point.

I would go again, but...

The Movenpick Resort and Dead Sea spa is a large, well maintained property sitting right on the Dead Sea. It could have been a 5 star resort if it had not been for the flies and mosquitos in our room. In one evening I killed three house flies and eight mosquitoes. (Note: I did not report it to the front desk.) I suspect the former occupant left the sliding screen open. We were on the ground floor with walk out access to one of the pools. My travel companions did not have the same problem. The mosquitoes being more annoying than the flies. Be forewarned, the Dead Sea is dropping about three feet per year. There are now 90 additional steps down to the water after the golf cart drops you off. Restaurants are pretty good but not exceptional. It is within walking distance to a mall if you need stuff. Overall, I'd go back if I wanted to float in the Dead Sea again.

The best Spa in Jordan

Mövenpick Dead Sea is nestled on the shore of Dead Sea and has won an award for best Spa in Jordan. We enjoyed all their facilities and the Spa was really amazing. Don’t forget to watch the stunning Dead Sea sunsets from the pool. The rooms are spacious and you could always get a golf car if you need to go somewhere in the resort. Delicious food - we loved their Lebanese restaurant and the breakfast was also perfect. If we come back to Jordan we will definitely visit it again.

Excellent resort at the Dead Sea

This is a beautiful property on the Dead Sea. The rooms are quite good and the service is excellent. The food offererings are good but not distinguished. It is a quite good choice for a resort experience in the area.
