Location & contact
We stayed here for 6 nights in a 3 bedroom apartment. We were here for a family wedding and there were friends and family members in this and the surrounding Laguna resorts. The apartment was great with 3 en-suite bedrooms, a kitchen area and a huge living area . The two main bedrooms were at each end of the apartment giving a degree of privacy but still having access to the large terrace. The kitchen had a dishwasher ( but no detergent ) and an oven but it wasn’t sufficiently equipped to do any real cooking. There was a good supply of drinking water provided each day In refillable bottles. The cleaning staff were very efficient but it could run quite late. Our flight was very late and when we arrived at the resort there was no food or drink available which seemed strange at this class of hotel. Breakfast in the restaurant was very good, with egg and noodle stations in the foyer. However the restaurant and bars were empty at other times and lacked any atmosphete. We intended to go for happy hour drinks in the pool bar but it had closed because of rain and the offer didn’t extend to the main bar . It would appear many people ate room service or ordered food via Grab. We never worked out what the chocolate hour was supposed to be as there was nothing obviously on offer. The resort is small and surrounded on three sides by the Laguna resort which encompasses a huge area with hotels and lakes. There were a few nice beach bars and restaurants nearby and there is a small shopping area about 20 minutes walk away or it was about 40 minutes walk to the nearest proper shops. This is a pleasant low key resort. It doesn’t have the facilities of Banyan Tree and Angsana but it suited us as we were travelling with a toddler. It would be useful to have some kind of shop or kiosk on site to sell essentials.
The hotel is quite isolated from everything. We stayed in a massive 3 bedroom Royal Jacuzzi Suite and it was massive but a bit run down. The hotel needs a bit of TLC but otherwise all in all the stay was very nice for the price and we enjoyed our stay. I would recommend this hotel as long as you know you are in an isolated area. The hotel staff really show that Thai hospitality and I am thankful for their dedication and efforts while we were at the Resort.
Having not travelled the last couple of years it was so nice to be out and about again with the family. From the time of booking they have been very helpful with ensuring our 3 year old gets a baby cot and all the amenities we needed to feel at home. We booked a 2 bedroom pool apartment with seaview and the apartment was the perfect set up for our family with 2 kids. The staff have been very accommodating throughout and the lady at the kids club Miss Cat was exceptional and she entertained our kids daily with the most amazing face paints and T-shirt painting. Our older son enjoyed the water activities in the main pool very much everyday after breakfast. The room was very spacious, even bigger than our own home we stay in Singapore, pure luxury for a holiday getaway. Miss Mick at the reception was also outstanding and nothing was too much to ask for. She managed to change our flights, arrange all our tours and also arranged a nice cooking class in our room. It was a pity that it rained much but we still had a great time and will come back again with family and friends.
We just came back from 2 weeks at Movenpick - stayed in a 3 bedroom suite and very much enjoyed our stay. The incredible staff make the resort very memorable. We especially want to thank Mary (front desk) and Mik- they were absolutely amazing- went above and beyond our expectations, and need to be acknowledged - thank you!! The resort itself is quite good - the 3 bedroom suite worked well for us - 3 bedroom, 4 bathroom with full kitchen dishwasher etc. The room had 2 decks - one overlooked the lagoon and the other looked into the hotel pathways. We had family at the neighbouring Sai Laguna and the room was just a small simple hotel room. Mövenpick was much better for a larger family. The only real down side was the beach - no fault of the resort. The beach is not swimable and was full of trash- it was very disappointing. We had a few small grievances and the resort ended up giving us a free 1 bedroom Villa with private pool, facing the lagoon- this was amazing. I don’t believe its advertised on the Mövenpick website either. Again, an example of the staff ensuring we were happy with our stay. Breakfast was delicious - quite a good variety and more then adequate. Gym is small and simple, but good for vacation. Walk along the beach to a outdoor massage hut and get a fantastic massage for 400 baht - located in front of Xana beach club
I am reviewing the Movenpick hotel Bangtao Beach not because of our stay (which will not occur) but because of what Transpired Prior to our Stay, which I feel was very underhanded by the Hotel. We booked a week at the Hotel in a Deluxe garden view (or so we thought) via Travelbag in February 23. As my wife and I are light sleepers and as we will be celebrating out wedding anniversary I contacted the Hotel to request a quiet room with as nice a view as possible. We were then informed by the Hotel that the booked Room had no view or Balcony and was in the Restaurant Block, we were also informed that if we wanted to upgrade to a Balcony room we would have to pay an extra 1100 THB (£270) per night which was more than Travelbag had paid for the original room. When I checked their prices via tripadvisor I noticed that they had increased their prices massively and that they were trying to pass that extra cost on to us, shame on Movenpick, we have now chosen a more trustworthy resort.
