First certified by Green Globe in 2013 and recognised with the Sustainability Leadership Award for pioneering international standards in the Philippines, Mövenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu has been awarded Gold Status for its five years of continuous certification. To date, the hotel continues to follow and improve its sustainability management programmes, achieving impressive compliance scores and certification from Green Globe.

Mövenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu is committed to being the leading hotel in the region, specifically in minimising the impact of its activities on the environment, and aspires to be a role model for environmental policies and actions.

We will ensure that the following activities are accomplished.

Employee Initiatives

  • Be well-aware of the environmental policy and undergo orientation or training on how to protect the environment and take care of existing natural resources
  • Participate in environmental initiatives and be fully aware of their objectives and specific roles
  • Strive to reduce waste generation, water pollution, land pollution, water consumption and energy consumption in our daily hotel-resort operation
  • Comply with the hotel-resort’s Code of Ethics regarding any environmental policies, laws and regulations
  • Invest in energy-efficient lighting, heating, cooling and other equipment whenever possible, and continue to investigate other possible renewable energy sources and processes
  • Participate in conserving energy and water consumption, and practice proper waste segregation and garbage disposal

Customer Initiatives

  • Be well-informed about the hotel-resort’s environmental affiliations, initiatives and activities through promotional materials for them to adhere and participate in
  • Support the hotel-resort’s environmental affiliations, initiatives and activities, and be encouraged to provide suggestions towards environmental improvements
  • Be well-informed of the hotel-resort’s local area safety measures, laws and regulations for personal protection, and further environmental policies, laws and regulations

Business Partners and Supplier Initiatives

  • Encourage business partners and suppliers to give a fair trade and provide eco-certified products to the hotel-resort
  • Incorporate environmental/sustainability criteria on purchasing policies and procedures
  • Ensure that purchased goods and products are antibiotic-free or without any preservatives/chemicals and comply with any international or local laws
  • Provide purchased goods and products that are not harmful to the environment
  • Encourage the use of re-usable, returnable and recyclable goods, processes and containers where available and applicable

Management Initiatives

  • Fully support any Sustainability Management Plan, be well immersed on any environmental activity and fully integrated to make any necessary decisions
  • Monitor, review, facilitate and maintain any environmental initiatives, and address any measurement for its continuous improvement
  • Comply with environmental laws, standards, regulations and any relevant legislations
  • Integrate environmental policy to the Code of Ethics for management, employees, customers and business partners
  • Comply with laws, standards and regulations concerning the protection of historical and cultural heritage sites
  • Comply with laws, standards and regulations on conserving biodiversity, ecosystems and landscapes
