Things to do in Nairobi

Nairobi's name comes from the Maasai phrase “Enkare Nairobi”, which translates to 'cool water', a reference to the Nairobi River which flows through Kenya’s capital city. To get a glimpse of the country’s famed fauna and flora on the city’s outskirts, head to Nairobi National Park, The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, Karura Forest and Giraffe Centre.

‘Out of Africa’ fans will delight in a visit to the Karen Blixen Museum or a hike in the Ngong Hills, while art lovers can look forward to galleries and live glassblowing in sculpture gardens. Discover Nairobi National Museum and shop for souvenirs in one of the numerous shopping malls or traditional Maasai markets.
