Grand-Bassam is a seaside resort close to the city of Abidjan, dating back to the French colonial era. Known for its busy palm-fringed beach that stretches along the Atlantic coast, Grand Bassam was the capital of the country and home to many colonial houses or ruins thereof from the 19th and 20th centuries.
