Cape Coast Castle

Fortification built by Swedish traders for dealing timber and gold. Later, became the structure which was used in the trans-Atlantic slave trade. The first timber construction on the site was erected in 1653 by the Swedish Africa Company and named Carolusborg after King Charles X of Sweden. It was later rebuilt in stone. In April 1663 the whole Swedish Gold Coast was seized by the Danish and integrated in the Danish Gold Coast.

National Theatre of Ghana

The National Theatre of Ghana, located just opposite Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel Accra, houses three resident groups: the National Symphony Orchestra, the National Dance Company and the National Drama Company. Regular cultural events take place within this unmistakable architectural feature.

Aburi Botanical Garden

The gardens were founded in the time of English colonialism and are somewhat of a relic of that time. The gardens are a great place to see a number of the plants and trees that are indigenous to the area which are clearly labeled and can be easily viewed within the gardens.

National Museum of Ghana

The National Museum has three main galleries: respectively with Ghana's past, traditions and country's arts culture. The galleries exhibits prehistoric Africa, sculptures and paintings from pioneering and contemporary artists. The National Museum provides examples of traditional attires, local musical instruments and sacred tribal artifacts such as Asante ancestral stools.

Kakum National Park

Kakum National Park is made up of mostly undisturbed rainforest and is one of the famous National Parks in Ghana. Situated about 33km North of Cape Coast, Central Regional capital and about 170km from Accra. It covers an area of 350 square km (including Assin Attandanso Resource Reserve). The vegetation is a moist evergreen rainforest with tall hardwood trees up to 65m in height. A highlight of this spectacular park is the 40m high canopy walkway suspended between trees from which different species of birds and butterflies can be observed and the structure of the forest canopy can be appreciated.
