(Hong Kong, 6 November 2014) – Bringing elements of a Swiss Christmas – Swissmas - to the warm climes of Asia, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts set to give guests a taste of tradition this season. Across the seven Asia-Pacific hotels and resorts, guests will be treated to an array of delicious festive food and drinks as well as Christmas activities, all taking inspiration from best-loved traditions in Switzerland. 

Movenpick’s Christmas V.I.P this season, “Samichlaus”, the traditional Swiss Santa Claus, will visit hotels from Saigon to Sentosa and all the locations in between! At Mövenpick Resort Laem Yai Beach Samui, he will delight guests with complimentary chocolate gifts on 6th December. ”Samichlaus” will also visit Mövenpick Hotel Saigon daily from 20th - 24th December (7.00 pm – 8.00 pm) where children will receive a Polaroid “Samichlaus” snap to capture the festive magic. Mövenpick Heritage Hotel Sentosa and Mövenpick Hotel Cebu will welcome their special guest on Christmas Day. 

The traditional “Adventskranz” will be lit at hotels including Mövenpick Resort & Spa Karon Beach Phuket and Mövenpick Hotel Hanoi. The Swiss candle display will be lit every Sunday from November 30th with the remaining candle lighting ceremonies taking place on the December 7th, 14th and 21st, to mark the Swiss tradition.

With gingerbread being a central part of Swiss Christmas, it will be in abundance across all properties. At Mövenpick Hotel Cebu, gingerbread cookies will be served with all tea and coffee orders from 1st – 16th of December. At Mövenpick Resort & Spa Karon Beach Phuket and Mövenpick Hotel Saigon, giant gingerbread houses will be on display as guests enter the main lobby. With other hotels such as Mövenpick Resort Bangtao Beach Phuket in Thailand showcasing a smaller display as part of the Christmas buffet.

In addition, a number of fun festive activities will take place, keeping the children entertained over Christmas season. Mövenpick Hotel Cebu will host Christmas tree decoration classes in the outdoor garden space during December. Not only will the children handcraft bespoke ornaments, but families staying at Mövenpick Hotel Cebu will enjoy a Children’s Choir on Christmas Eve from 6pm.

Festive food and drink for adults is top of the Christmas list this year, with complimentary Swiss mulled wine, “Glühwein”, served to guests across a number of hotels. Guests who enjoy the Christmas dinner buffet at Mövenpick Hotel Hanoi can enjoy a complimentary glass of the Swiss mulled, spiced wine. The festive cheer continues for adults at Mövenpick Resort & Spa Karon Beach Phuket with Christmas-themed cocktails such as Holly Jolly Egg Nog and The Santa Shot made of crème de menthe, grenadine and peppermint schnapps.

Mövenpick Hotel Sentosa’s world renowned restaurant, The WOW by Waldhaus am See St. Moritz – the first Asian outpost of the famed Devil’s Place at hotel Waldhaus am See, St. Moritz, will host a festive Christmas Eve set meal consisting of dishes such as Duck Pate with Dark Cherry compote as an amuse bouche with Rolled with Parma ham, glazed with Smoky Whisky Jus for main. Christmas Day dinner is priced at S$128++ and S$158++ with the higher priced set coming with free flow sparkling wine and house wine.

Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts also aims to spread Swiss hospitality and cheer to those who are less fortunate this Christmas, with a number of locations supporting local charities and orphanages. At Hotel Hanoi, a “Wish list” Christmas tree situated in the hotel’s main lobby will display wishes in support of the local orphanage, Xuy Xa orphanage in the Ha Tay province, with gifts and donations placed in Santa stockings found hanging on the special ‘Wish list’ Christmas tree.
