The modern Archaeological Museum of Izmir, located in the Konak district, was opened in 1984 after being open to the public in different areas of the city since 1927. The museum covers an area of 5,000 sqm with over 1,500 artifacts on display. The exhibition is organised on different floors and halls containing, among others, findings from the ancient city of Smyrna.
