Swiss National Day

Since 1891, the first day of August has been celebrated as "Swiss National Day". A wide variety of entertainment and events take place to commemorate the founding of the Swiss Confederation in 1291. Visitors can look forward to festivities including speeches, bonfires, fireworks and a paper lantern parade, as well as music and culinary highlights.
