Green Globe

A global ‘green’ leader

Although many of the world’s leading hotel groups are Green Globe accredited, none have come close to matching Mövenpick’s performance in terms of its sustainability ranking by compliance score, the number of properties completing certification, and the length of time properties have maintained this status. These achievements demonstrate our commitment to sustainable management plans that are transparent and adhere to world-leading best-practice standards.

Why Green Globe?

For the last 25 years, Green Globe has set the highest standards of sustainability certification for the travel and tourism industry. To qualify for Green Globe status, hotels and resorts must comply with the certification body’s strict sustainability criteria, all of which is internationally accepted as the foundation of sustainability performance. Green Globe applies this stringent process to ensure we can boldly and legitimately meet our ambitions to protect and contribute to the destinations where our hotels and resorts are located. It also assures our guests they are staying with a truly ‘green’ hotel group.

The Future

Our goal is for an even larger percentage of our hotels to attain Green Globe’s Gold Status, while ensuring our new properties roll out robust sustainability plans that comply with Green Globe criteria. This ongoing determination to set the ‘green’ benchmark in the global hospitality sector is central to our successful CSR programme SHINE, which focuses on environmental, employer and social sustainability through education.

About Green Globe

The origins of the Green Globe organisation date back to the United Nations Rio de Janeiro Earth Summit in 1992, where 182 heads of state from around the world endorsed the Agenda 21 principles of sustainable development. Two years later, the Green Globe membership was established.
